Project Officer for SEP Project
The Efficient Use of Water Project - Suunu Effectivduu Paidalanuu (SEP) - was launched by Helvetas in 2009. The project aims at improving farmers' capacities to efficiently manage water resources at field level in order to increase their income, preserve the environment and mitigate climate change effects. The project is currently in the first main phase, lasting from 2010 - 2012, and is focussing on innovation development in the field of efficient water use technologies. The project supports 10 partner organizations in the South of Kyrgyzstan who are implementing capacity building projects for SEP.
In order to ensure high quality of the partner projects, SEP is looking for a Project Officer who will be the main contact person for SEP partners in the South of Kyrgyzstan. The project officer will be based in Osh and will coordinate the collaboration with SEP partners.
Major Tasks:
- - support project partners in the development and implementation of projects related to efficient water use
- - monitor partner projects
- - coordinate market-testing activities of innovative irrigation technologies
- - assess adoption and adaptation of the promoted technologies
- - organize trainings and seminar for partners in the field
- - facilitate communication between SEP partners, government institutions and related projects
Requirements:
- - higher education in the field of irrigation, agronomy or economy
- - minimum 3 years working experience in rural development
- - fluent (oral and written) in Kyrgyz and Russian, solid knowledge of English (oral and written)
- - experience in project work
- - proven organizational skills
- - ability to work independently and for conceptual thinking & planning
- - strong communication skills and team player
- - computer literacy (MS Office)
- - flexibility and readiness for frequent traveling to rural areas
Duty station: Osh, with frequent traveling to remote areas in Batken, Jalalabad and Osh oblasts.
